Mustafa Kemal Abadan ( Architect, Turkey )
Mustafa Kemal Abadan is a Design Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM). With a focus on integrating architecture, engineering, and sustainable strategies, he approaches design projects as an opportunity to explore ideas of physical and social context, spatial experience, and clarity of function. Abadan has extensive experience designing complex urban projects that involve intricate site planning and multiple uses, and incorporate thriving civic spaces. As a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), he was elevated to the distinction of a Fellow, (FAIA) in 2007. In 2008, together with other prominent Turks living in the USA, he founded the Turkish Philanthropy Funds, (TPF) and in 2017, in recognition for his contributions to Turkish and American society, he was awarded the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
