Prof. Dr. Ioanna KUÇURADİ ( director of the Centre for Research and Application of Human Rights at Maltepe University. )
She was born in 1936, Istanbul. She graduated from philosophy at Istanbul Univeristy in 1959. She received her PhD in 1965. She worked in Erzurum Atatürk University between 1965 and 1968. She became associate professor in 1970 and professor in 1978. She was appointed to Hacettepe University in 1968. Until 2003, she served as head of the Department of Philosophy, founded in 1969. She served as director of the Centre for Research and Application of the Human Rights, founded in 1997, until 2005. She is also holder of a UNESCO Chair of Philosophy since 1998. She was appointed to the Department of Philosophy in Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Maltepe University in 2006. She serves as director of the Centre for Research and Application of the Human Rights at this university. She has many awards such as Honor Award of Social Ethics Foundation (2013) and “Awards for Contribution to Human Rights”. She is also member of various institutions such as Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, Philosophy Committee and Human Rights Committee.
