Abdullah GÜL ( President of Republic of Turkey )
Born in 1950 in Kayseri. He was graduated from Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. He received his PhD in 1983. He worked in foundation of Department of Industrial Engineering at Sakarya University and gave lectures there. He became associated professor of “international economy” in 1989. He served as economist in Islamic Development Bank in 1983. He served as a member of parliament for Kayseri in Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) from 1991 to 2007. In this duration, he was a member of the Plan and Budget Committee of the TBMM. Gül was the Spokesman and the Minister of State in the 54th government formed in 1996. He led the Reformist Movement and competed for the Chairmanship of the Fazilet Party in 2000. Gül was among the leading figures in the establishment of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) an served as the Deputy Chairman in 2001. He was a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Gül formed the 58th Government as Prime Minister in 2002. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister in the 59th Government. He was elected by the TBMM as the eleventh President of the Republic of Turkey in 2007. The President holds many international prize, medal, badge, honorary membership, PhD and professor degrees. He is married with three children.
