Dr. Vefa TARHAN ( USA )
Prof. Dr. Tarhan graduated from Boğaziçi University. He received his PhD degree in Economics at University of California at Santa Barbara in which he had Full-Bright scholarship. Professor Tarhan was visiting from Loyola University of Chicago where he was the Ralph Marotta Professor of Free Enterprise. Professor Tarhan held visiting positions at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University also during 1988-1990 and 1998-2000.
Based on the studies of European Economic Association, Vefa Tarhan was ranked as 107th among the most important 1000 economist in the world. He honoured as “the professor of the year” among the students of three different universities. Professor Tarhan honoured as “the most successful researcher of the year” at Loyola University of Chicago in 2011. Professor Tarhan’s research covered corporate finance topics, such as, share repurchases, firms’ financing decisions, capital structure policy, and whether or not firms face constraints in raising funds.
