Dr. Uğur and Çiçek DERMAN

Uğur DERMAN, Uğur Derman has completed his undergraduate studies in Istanbul University, School of Pharmacy at Faculty of Medicine in 1960. After the period of being self employed pharmacist during 1963 and 1973, he held the position of administrator of Türkpetrol Foundation in 1977. Derman has worked as an art consultant at Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture in 1981. He had been a student of Necmeddin Okyay (1883-1976) who was a retired instructor of State Academy of Fine Arts since 1955. He had studied about Ottoman Book Arts. Besides, he took advantage of the experts of this field such as Macid Ayral, Halim Özyazıcı and Dr. Süheyl Ünver.

 

Prof. Dr. Çiçek Derman, She graduated from the Department of Art History, Faculty of Letter in Istanbul University. Since 1985 she has been serving as the chair of the branch of Traditional Turkish Handicraft Arts in the Faculty of Fine Art at Marmara University. She completed her doctorate at Marmara University, in the Social Science Institution in 1987. She became professor in 2002. She learned the art of Tezhip (illumination) from Dr. Süheyl Ünver (1898-1986) and Muhsin Demironat (1907-1983) and Rikkat Kunt (1903-1986).
