Prof. Dr. Güven SAK ( Executive Director of TEPAV )

Güven Sak is the executive director of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV), a leading think-tank established in 2004 in Ankara, Turkey with the aim of contributing to the economic policy discussions in Turkey. Since 2003, Prof. Dr Sak is also the vice-rector of the TOBB Economics and Technology University in Ankara.

Güven Sak holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the Middle East Technical University and M.A. degree from University of East Anglia. Dr. Sak has taught at the Faculty of Political Science of Ankara University between 1995 and 2006, and became a professor of public economics in 2003.

 

Prof. Dr. Sak was a founding member of the Monetary Policy Council of the Central Bank of Turkey, to which he was appointed as an external member in 2001 for a five-year term. His past policy-making experience includes prominent positions in Turkish social security reform projects in 1995 and 1999, and in Turkish capital market modernization project in 1991 – 92.

Prof. Dr. Sak wrote a column for Radikal newspaper between 1996 – 2001 and currently writes on economic issues for the Referans daily.
