He has over 30 years\u2019 experience in the field of education, and an even longer experience in the field of International Higher Education.<\/p>\n<p>Akpinar is alum of the City University and Huron University London (currently Hult Business School), where he completed his BSc. and MBA in Business respectively. At the age of 22 he put his vision of establishing a university in North Cyprus to test by founding the Girne American University in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>Akpinar has been involved in the establishment of a number of civil society organizations, and channels his passion for children\u2019s rights through his philanthropic foundation Cyprus Child Foundation, through which he financially supports education of many children residing in Cyprus, and advocates the rights of the children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Serhat Akpinar is the founder of the Girne American University and American Un\u0131versity of Cyprus , situated in North Cyprus.
