He is the seventh President of Iran. He is also a lawmaker, diplomat and academician.<\/p>\n<p>Rouhani started religious studies in 1960 in Qom. He studied modern courses, and was admitted to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/University_of_Tehran\">University of Tehran<\/a>\u00a0in 1969, and obtained a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bachelor_of_Arts\">B.A.<\/a>\u00a0degree in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Judicial_review\">Judicial Law<\/a>\u00a0in 1972. He has master\u2019s and doctoral degree from Glasgow Caledonian University.<\/p>\n<p>Rouhani ran for the presidential office during the election in June 2013, and won at the same time the sympathy of the country&#8217;s pro-reformers with moderate views, and was also seen as a favorite among candidates because of his close ties with the religious leaders.
